Freddie Yauner designs products and installations that aim to engage and inform. He is concerned with exploring the state of the world through designed objects.He uses Design as a tool to question assumptions and push boundaries, often using humor to increase accessibility to complex and challenging ideas.

Yauner gained a distinction in Design Products from the Royal College of Art, and is a lecturer and researcher at Northumbria University school of Design. His work spans from small products to public artworks, he is a world record holder and is the co-founder of a web based charity.

Yauner’s work has been included in the Permanent collections at the Museum of Modern Art, New York and The Design Museum, London.

We spend our lives being directed by signage, but what do the signs get up to when they have no one to tell what to do? Reactive signage, giving a look into the lives of overworked pictograms.

Site specific instalation for Sleepless exhibition at the Great Eastern Hotel. When people were present, the sign would function, but when the space was empty the overworked pictogram would take a well earned break, that is until he was needed back at work!
Flash animation controlled by a motion sensor.animation aprox 3mins. Click animation to make the fire exit man go back to work.

Signs of life is an Edition of 11 – one of which is part of the Permanent collection at The Museum of Modern Art in New York.
